Originally designated as the Royal Exchange, the City Chambers was constructed in 1753 by John Adam to serve the city's merchants. The Town Council relocated to this building in 1811, having outgrown their former quarters in the Old Tolbooth across the Royal Mile.
A substantial remodel and extension in 1904 introduced numerous new spaces, embellished with ornate details such as magnificent paintings and historical furniture, thereby reflecting the venue's captivating history.

Today, the City Chambers functions as the administrative centre of Edinburgh and accommodates weddings, conferences, and other private events, offering a distinctive blend of historical charm and modern functionality.
